Opal J. Mcelroy

Opal Joy McElroy was born on May 11, 1924 to Ellery and Zelma Owen Rank in the Randall, KS community. She passed away on February 27, 2019 at the Resident Care Center in Beloit, KS at the age of 94 years.

Opal graduated from Randall Rural High School.  On September 19, 1942, she married Carl Dale McElroy in Concorida, KS.  To this union, two daughters were born:  Judy Kay and Carol Joye.  Opal and Carl celebrated 71 years together before Carl's passing in 2014.

A lifetime resident of the Randall community, Opal was a busy farm wife raising two girls and involved in every part of farming and working the land right along with Carl.  Opal and Carl retired from farming and moved from her family's homestead to the city of Randall in 2001.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  She was a member of the Randall Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, by her daughter, Judy Zimmer, and by her brothers Hiram and William Rank.  She is survived by her daughter, Carol Flinn and husband, Larry of Lebanon, MO; by five grandchildren:  Sandra Henningsen and husband, Russ of Hays, KS; Angela Dreher of Topeka, KS; Shaun Kibbe and wife, Sharon of Sabetha, KS; Jason Kibbe of Lawrence, KS and Jeremy Stover and wife, Karl Dawn of Beloit, KS; and ten great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, March 6 at the Randall Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Heart Choices or the Randall Community Church.
