Oris Eugene Thompson, age 86, passed from this life on January 11, 2022 at the Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems, Beloit, KS.

He was born October 9, 1935 near Mankato, KS to Lester and Vesta Thompson.  On April 6, 1956 he married Corrine Winterberg and four daughters were born to this union.  Rita Doreen, Priscilla Marie, Tamera Jean and Melody Kay.

Oris was a master carpenter, loved farming, was the sheriff of Mitchell County and Undersheriff of Republic County; is a retired KS Fire Marshal Investigator then worked for the City of Belleville to occupy his time.

In 2015, Oris and Corrine moved from Belleville back to Beloit to be near their daughters and to attend all the grandchildren & great-grandchildren's activities.

Oris continued to be a #1 fan of all Beloit Trojan sports after all the grandchildren graduated.  He loved the special bond with many athletes, coaches and parents.

Left to celebrate his life and mourn his passing are daughters Priscilla (Brian) Stillwell and Tammy (Steve) Krier of Beloit and 7 grandchildren: Kristi (Jeremy) Adams, Brandon (Julie) Stillwell, Amanda (Joe) Thiessen, Ashton Krier (special friend Josie Wilson), Alijah (Sheyanne) Krier, Alex (Katherine) Cooper, Porsche Cooper (special friend Blaine Burks) and 8 ¾ great-grandchildren: Oakleigh, Quinn and Logan Adams; Lilly and Mason Stillwell; Aspen and Bowen Thiessen; Hattie Krier; Baby Cooper(due in March); His sister: Cheryl Anderson, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Oris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two daughters, Rita Ledbetter and Melody Cooper; and his brother, Ormal.

Memorial services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, January 18 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church. Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday, January 17 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the BHS Booster Club or the Church Flooring Project.
