Patrick "Woody" D. Woods

April 5, 1951 — August 19, 2013

Patrick "Woody" Woods was born April 5th, 1951 from the union of Pat and Jody Woods. Pat lost his long time battle with cancer at home on August 19th, 2013.
Pat was a persistent person and never wanted to give up, had pride in everything he did, was a diligent educator to anyone who was willing to listen and loved to work. He spent his childhood racing with the family and learning all he could about vehicles.
Pat was in high school when he met the love of his life Susan Weston and vowed she was the one he would spend the rest of his life with and as determined as he was he made that dream come true. Pat and Susan were united in marriage June 14th, 1970 and from that union they gained two little tots named Margo Kay and Cande Jean.
Pat spent time serving in the National Guard for 16 years where he gained many lifelong friends and buckets full of grand memories to share. Pat was a handy man that specialized in automotives. He touched many people with his caring, helpful personality and prided himself knowing he was the go to guy if you needed help.
Pat enjoyed working on race cars and setting them up for the drivers and spent many races as the flag man guiding the drivers in their quest on the track. He loved to fish and always enjoyed taking his girls and grandchildren knowing he was not going to have the stringer full of his own fish from helping the kids with their tackle and their own catches. He enjoyed making things at home and teaching the children with hands on tasks such as wood working. Pat was a dedicated grandfather and could be seen at as many games as he was able to attend supporting his children and grandchildren in their sporting events and activities.
Pat's battle with many forms of cancer and diabetes was strenuous but his determination and love for life kept him fighting clear to the end.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Pat and Jody Woods.
Pat left behind many survivors including his wife of forty three years Susan Woods, two daughters: Margo of Beloit and Cande and husband David of Glen Elder, and seven grandchildren: DeNae, Brooke, KelDan, Sabrina, Bryce, Ashley, and Chelsea, along with three step great grand babies. Also left behind were three sisters: Charlene Abell, Glada Cooper, and Mary Hyman and One brother Deen Woods all of Beloit along with their significant others and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 22 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 6-7:30 PM.
