Paul Edwin Hyde of Glasco died Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Salina Regional Medical Center; he was 80.
Paul was born December 12, 1926 in Formoso, Kansas. He attended Jewell County country schools and graduated from Formoso High School in the Class of 1944. In 1950, Paul joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Long Beach, California where he married Jo Ann Colton on September 4, 1951. Paul worked for the Communications Department for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America for thirty years, living in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma and retired in 1984 at Great Bend, Kansas. Paul was a member of the American Legion of Great Bend and the V.F.W. of Glasco. He enjoyed woodworking, leathercraft, pottery, and singing in the barbershop with the Line Chord Quartet.
Survivors include his wife Jo Ann of the home, daughters Dee Hyde Begany and husband Raymond of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Pam Hyde Ell and husband Matthew of Boise, Idaho; foster children W.T. Pearson of Seattle, Washington, David Bass of Johnson City, Kansas, Robert Bass of Garden City, Kansas; grandchildren Brenna Jagne and Andrew Duggin, and great grandson Jaia Brewer, and a good family friend Dana Embree of Glasco.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Ernest Hyde and Ethel May Landreth Hyde, and one sister Merideth Rogge.
Funeral services are 3:00 PM Monday, December 8, 2007 at the Dean Funeral Home, followed by burial in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
