Paul Boston Wills, the last surviving child of Oliver Boston and Effie Hillan Wills was born April 22, 1912 on a farm north of Glasco, Kansas. He departed this life of 95 years, 1 month, and 15 days Thursday afternoon, June 7, 2007 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
Paul and his family moved to Beloit where he attended the old Second Ward School and graduated from Beloit High School. While on a double blind date, he met his future wife Elva Wandalene Gray, and on December 21, 1935 they were married at the First United Methodist Church in Beloit. They were blessed with three children Larry, Judith, and Bennie, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Paul worked for the Railway Express in Manhattan and Hoisington and was the Railway Express Agent in Beloit. After the Railway Express closed the office in Beloit, he worked for the Kansas Gas Service Company as a meter repairman until his retirement.
Besides working for the gas company, Paul and Elva owned and operated the Willis Sewing Mart. Paul sold Pfaff sewing machines and repaired virtually all makes and models of sewing machines until long after his retirement.
Paul was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been active in the Beloit Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elva in 2004. In addition, his parents, brothers Ray Wills and Bob Sondergard, and sisters Margaret Hope, Betty Robbins, Leota Mallory, Beulah Miller, Peggy Kahn and Genevieve Wills preceded him in death.
Survivors are his children Larry Wills and wife Doris of Topeka, Judith Strahm and husband Gene of Hiawatha, Bennie Wills and wife Patti of Concordia. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Anne Wills Ferneau and husband Jim, Howard Wills and wife Meredith, Gregory Strahm and wife Erin, Barbara Strahm Eastman, Jeff Strahm and wife Sarah, Dee Strahm Kramer and husband Jeff, Kimberly Wills Plummer and husband Bart, Michelle Wills Wolfe, and Jeremy Wills and wife Jill, and nineteen great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 11, 2007 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Paul B. Wills Memorial Fund, and friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
