Philip Walter Streit was born on September 29, 1928 on the family farm west of Tipton, Kansas, the son of George and Katherine Schroeder Streit. He died early Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Downs, Kansas at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 27 days.
Philip grew up and spent his entire life on the family farm in Tipton, where farming and working cattle became his lifetime passion. He was very detailed and took great pride in his work.
On May 29, 1954, he was united in marriage with Cecilia Irene Eilert at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. Two sons were born to this union, Richard and George. They were privileged to spend more than 62 years of marriage together.
Philip was a good family man, and a great father to his sons – he was stern, but never uttered a harsh word. He loved music and enjoyed dancing with Cecilia.
He was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John, Laurence, Benedict, George, Arnold, Cap, Al; and sisters, Bernadine Junk and Angeline Eilert.
In addition to his wife, Cecilia of the home, he is survived by his two sons, Richard and his wife Gina of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and George of Beloit; sister, Rosaline Koster of Downs; four grandchildren; and a host of friends and family.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, September 28 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. A parish rosary will be at 7 PM Tuesday, September 27 at the Church, & visitation will be from 5 PM until the rosary service begins. Memorials may be given to Tipton Schools or the St. Boniface Memorial Trust Fund.
