Ralph Wallace Mckinnie

Ralph Wallace McKinnie was born on October 1, 1911 in Mitchell County, Kansas, the son of Charles and Eva Porter McKinnie. He died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 25 days.
Wallace grew up on a farm near Glen Elder and attended country school before graduating from Beloit High School in the Class of 1928. Following graduation, he attended Kansas State University for an agriculture course. He then returned to the family farm near Glen Elder.
On July 20, 1935, he was united in marriage with Mildred Forster in Beloit, and one son and one daughter were born to this union. The couple had been privileged to spend 63 years of marriage together until her death in December of 1998.
Wallace enjoyed participating in various parades, and decorating his bales along the highway. He and Mildred enjoyed the lake, as well as dancing and traveling. He was a member of the Glen Elder Christian Church, the Beloit Elk's, the Concordia Moose, and was a charter member of the Glen Elder Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, C.P. McKinnie.
Wallace is survived by his son, Ron and his wife Shari of Glen Elder; his daughter, Deanna Riggins and her husband Robert of Norfolk, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Jami Miller, Jill Koster, Angela O'Keefe, and Andrea Childress; nine great grandchildren, Lindsay and Landon Miller; Kayleigh Chase, and Allison Koster; Nathan, Sean, Haidan, and Kaitlin O'Keefe; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, January 30, at the Glen Elder Christian Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church or Solomon Valley Hospice. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit.
