Rebecca Kathleen Marzolf, 85, passed away Oct. 27, at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas. She was born Jan. 9, 1940 at her home south of Glen Elder to Edwin and Nora (Ahlvers) Fisher. She was the third of four children.
Becky married Jack Marzolf on May 24, 1959. He died on Father's Day in 2020. Together they had three children, Rhonda Farwell and her husband Curt of Beloit, Mark Marzolf and his wife Cheryl of Glen Elder and Michael Marzolf and his wife Crystal of Great Bend.
Her family moved to Glen Elder when she was just four years old following the death of her father in a farming accident. Becky attended Glen Elder High School, graduating in 1957.
During her younger years, she worked at the Porter Hotel in Beloit where she would ride the train from Glen Elder to Beloit each day. From there she worked at the Glen Elder IGA Supermarket and spent a large portion of her career as the manager of the Glen Elder Locker Plant.
Becky was a life-long member of the Glen Elder Methodist Church, growing up in the church and watching her children grow up in the same church as well. She sang in the choir for many years along with her husband.
Becky enjoyed camping and jet skiing at Waconda Lake. She spent many summer weekends with her family there. She enjoyed her Kansas Jayhawks basketball team and celebrated three national championships for them.
She was an avid bowler, competing competitively for nearly 50 years, winning numerous awards in the process. She and her partner won the state championship in doubles one year.
The Fourth of July was one of her favorite holidays, celebrating with lots of fireworks, grilled hamburgers and her famous homemade ice cream.
A hobby of hers was crocheting. She made several blankets for family members and many other beautiful pieces. She enjoyed playing board games and card games as well as working crossword puzzles in the daily newspaper.
She enjoyed trips with Jack and their friends to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed visiting the casinos in Kansas later in her life.
Most of all, Becky enjoyed time with her family and friends. She spent a lot of time watching her children and grandchildren playing football, basketball, running track as well as cheer and dance. Becky attended numerous band concerts, Christmas concerts, orchestra concerts and any event her children and grandchildren were a part of.
A big part of her family time was spent after church as she had the family for Sunday dinners.
Becky spent many Christmas Eves driving Santa's sleigh from house to house as Jack played Santa Claus to many children for nearly 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her father Edwin in 1943, her mother Nora in 1995, sister Louise in 1993, sister Caroline in 2012 and brother Allen in 2022.
Becky is survived by all three children. Surviving grandchildren are Reece Farwell of Lawrence and Tori Farwell of Memphis, Tenn. Brady Marzolf and wife Jill of Wichita. Chase Marzolf of Wichita. Katelyn Wilcox and husband Robert of Great Bend. Kinsley Wood of Great Bend.
Great-grandchildren are Aurora Marzolf (Brady and Jill), Wade Wilcox and Willow Wilcox (Robert and Katelyn).
Funeral services will be at 1 PM Friday, November 7 at the First Methodist Church of Glen Elder. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM, with family present from 5-7 PM Thursday, November 6 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit.
