Renee Hewitt-Soden

Renee Lyn Hewitt-Soden was born July 22, 1974 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Donald and Cylene Peters Hewitt. She died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the Salina Regional Health Center at the age of 50.

Renee grew up in Beloit, where she attended and graduated from St. John's High School in 1993 with her twin brother, Ryan. Following graduation, she attended Bethany College, where she earned degrees in criminal justice and psychology. She later went to work at the Central Kansas Mental Health Center, where she had worked for the last 28 years.

On April 9, 1999, she was united in marriage with Garett Soden at the St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. Two children, Lakin Leekay and McKason Lendon were born to this union.

Renee was naturally considerate, and loved taking care of people. She was always aware of people's needs and was willing to help when she could. She also loved going to her kids' events, and was often one of the loudest cheering them on, and she coached youth soccer and volleyball at the YMCA. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, and was often dreaming of writing her own books someday.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Ronald Hewitt.

Renee is survived by her husband Garett; children, Lakin Leekay Soden and McKason Lendon Soden; sister, Carol Lea Hewitt; brother, Ryan Hewitt; and her beloved dogs, Nugget, Noodle, and Nix; as well as many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday, July 12 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. Visitation will be from 1-6 PM, followed by a rosary service at 6 PM at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Renee Hewitt-Soden Scholarship Fund.
