Richard Duda was born on January 19, 1930 to Michael and Mary Pakak Duda in Delray, Michigan.
He departed this life of 79 years, 3 months and 14 days Saturday afternoon, May 2, 2009 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit after a long illness.
Richard grew up in an outlying district of Detroit. He lived most of his life in and around the Detroit area, worked in a variety of occupations, and for the longest time of his career, was a driver for steel mills. He and his wife moved to Beloit in May, 2006.
He married Sharlyn May Pierson in July, 1993.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents. In addition, he was preceded in death by one brother Michael Duda; two sons John and Ricky Duda and one daughter Eleanor Duda.
Survivors include his wife Sharlyn of Beloit; sons Gerald Duda, Ed Smeltekop both of Salina, Steven Arkins of Pasadena, Texas; daughters Rene Hacker of Heil, Michigan, Tina and Stephanie Duda of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters Catherine Slaughter of Heil, Michigan, Marilee Duda of Westland, Michigan; thirty grandchildren, two great grandchildren along with many other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the McDonald Funeral Home with Dave Mealiff officiating. Burial of the ashes will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home.
