Richard Joseph Carrico was born February 23, 1939 to William Joseph and Martha Sarah Summers Carrico in Beloit, Kansas. He departed this life of 74 years Tuesday morning, December 3, 2013 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
"Dick", as he was known and loved by all, grew up in Beloit and graduated from Beloit High School in the Class of 1957. In later years, he greatly enjoyed helping orchestrate the annual Beloit Homecoming Reunions.
On December 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to Maxine Agnes Eilert at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beloit. Twin daughters Martha Ann and Marie Agnes who died at birth, and Montey and Linda were born to this union.
A man of great vision, Dick had the know-how to make things happen. He was never idle, and had the true American entrepreneur and marketing executive spirit that spelled success. Most recently, he was an integral player in ICON industries. During his life, he loved designing and building houses, and was working on one of his projects at the time of his death. While his pursuits and endeavors often took him away for extended periods of time, he never forgot his hometown of Beloit, Kansas, and was always concerned about its growth and welfare.
Dick also was a people person. He delighted in joking with others, was a great story teller, and was the consummate prankster.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and twin daughters Martha Ann and Marie Agnes Carrico.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Maxine of the home; one son Montey Carrico and wife Annette of The Colony, Texas, one daughter Linda Desen and husband Darwin of Lewisville, Texas; one sister Stella McGinnis of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren Kaylie and Lauren Carrico, Andrew, Tyler and Ryan Desen; a host of many nieces, nephews and friends.
Father Joseph Kieffer will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follw in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. John's Catholic Schools or St. John's Catholic Church. Mr. Carrico will lie in state at the McDonald Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. Thursday at which time he will be taken to St. John's Catholic Church where the Parish Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening.
