Richard "Dick" Edward Siskosky was born March 4, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away November 1, 2018 in Salina, Kansas at the age of 76.
Dick was the eldest child of Edward and Helen (Vaitkunas) Siskosky. All four of his grandparents were immigrants from Lithuania. He grew up in Berkley, MI near where his father worked at General Motors. In his youth, Dick was a Boy Scout, loved fishing and archery and an occasional practical joke on his siblings. After graduating from Berkley High School, Dick earned his B.S in Pharmacy from Wayne State University in 1963 and his Doctor of Osteopathy from Michigan State University in 1973. He completed his residency in Anatomical Pathology and Nuclear Medicine in Flint, MI. With several medical certifications, Dick initially went into general medicine then later into pathology, working at hospitals and clinics in and around the Detroit area. In 1983, he headed west where he spent 15 years as Laboratory Director and Pathologist at Community Hospital in Grand Junction, CO. Dick moved to Salina, KS in 1998 and was Pharmacist at Walgreens until his retirement.
Dick met and became acquainted with Karen Studer while she was teaching his son Eric's Sunday School class in Salina. The two were married on September 20, 1998 and just recently observed their 20th anniversary. Although Dick had a passion for helping others in their health needs, his first love was the Lord. He took the Great Commission seriously and was a true "fisher of men." He and Karen would frequently "go fishing" as he called it, heading to local parks, travel stops, etc., to share the message of salvation with anyone they met. Dick seldom missed spending daily time alone with God and would compose a note each day containing a scripture and a word of encouragement for Karen. Thousands of these notes are left behind as reminders of his love and commitment to Karen and to the Lord. Dick never liked to call attention to himself. He was truly a humble man and a devoted follower of his Savior.
Dick leaves his beloved wife Karen; son Bob Siskosky and wife Chris of Dana Point, CA; daughter Ann Maxwell of Anaheim, CA; son Eric Siskosky and wife Krystal of Richmond, VA; step-son Vaughn Studer and wife Lea of Kearney, NE; grandchildren Amber Maxwell, Brett Siskosky, Robert Maxwell and Ellis Siskosky; and great grandson Luke Kreuger. Dick is also survived by his sister Carol Snitgen, brother Jim Siskosky, sister Amy Stawski, and brother Mike Siskosky, all residing near the Detroit area. He was predeceased by his parents.
