Robert "Bob" Clark

Robert Leroy Clark was born on July 6, 1930 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Lester and Elizabeth Childers Clark. He died on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 26 days.
Bob grew up and went to school in Beloit. At Beloit High School he played football, and was very active in track. His state record in the 200 hurdles is still intact today. Following graduation in 1948, he attended Ft. Hays State University for a couple of years on a track scholarship. From 1950 to 1954, Bob served in the United States Navy, and served two tours during the Korean War.
On December 4, 1955, he was united in marriage with Margie Myers in Beloit. Three daughters and two twin sons were born to this union. They were privileged to spend nearly 58 years of marriage together.
Bob was a letter carrier for the United States Postal System for 34 years until his retirement in 1987.
He was very active in the VFW Post #6242, where he served as a past commander and helped with the color guard, and was also a member and served as Deacon in the Beloit First Presbyterian Church.
Bob had many hobbies, including an extensive collection and setup of model railroads and trains. He also spent a lot of time woodworking, where he built many cabinets and shelving units, and greatly loved to work outdoors in his yard or in the Presbyterian Church yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Jeffrey and Jamie in 1967; and his sister, Patricia Coe.
Bob is survived by his wife Margie of the home; three daughters, Lori Briggs and her husband Brad of Eagan, Minnesota, Joni Wolters and her husband Curt of Portis, and Kathi Hilliard and her husband Don of Garnett; one brother, Lester Clark of Arlington, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Jared (Jennifer) Wolters and Emily Wolters, Taylor and Alex Briggs, and Megan, Zachary, and Connor Hilliard; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, April 5 at the McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
