Robert Vincent Earle was born August 6, 1925 to Richard Vincent and Alma Grace Motes Earle at Beloit, Kansas. He departed this life of 82 years, 8 months, and 10 days late Wednesday afternoon, April 16, 2008 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
"Bob", as everyone knew him, graduated from Beloit High School in the Class of 1943 and then entered the United States Marine Corps, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He married Lela Ann Shea, and to this union were born two children Lou Ann and Michael.
For over thirty years, Bob was employed by the United States Postal Service in downtown Beloit. His career began as a substitute mail carrier and over the years he diligently worked his way to the position of Postmaster. Besides working at the Post Office, Bob enjoyed helping at B&L Auto Service, R&M Auto Parts and James Clothing.
A quiet, rather introspective person, Bob had an unquenchable passion for sports. He played football in high school. He loved baseball and in 1970 helped support the Beloit Elks Baseball Team which won the State Championship in 1973. He later attended a World Series Baseball Game. Always true to the Crimson-n-Blue, Bob was a devout fan of the Kansas University Jayhawks. Aside from his love of sports, Bob enjoyed visiting with his large circle of friends, often exchanging stories about his military service.
Bob was a loyal and faithful family person. He was always there for his children, and as the health of his wife declined, he prided himself in caring for her as long as he could.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post No. 57 and was past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6242 of Beloit.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Lou Ann Broderick, and one brother William Earle.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Ann of Beloit; one son Michael V. Earle and wife Sydney of Fishers, Indiana; one sister Gloria Cross, and two beloved grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church by Father Joseph Kieffer. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. John's Memorial Trust Fund or St. John's Education Fund.
