Roberta "Bobbi" Link

September 26, 1935 — April 14, 2019

Beloit

Roberta (Bobbi) Ann Link was born on September 26, 1935 in Beloit, Kansas to Charles (Charlie) John and Esther Beatrice Minges. Bobbi's long and productive life of 83 years ended on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit.

Bobbi attended Beloit public schools and graduated from high school in 1953. She attended the University of Nebraska and then returned to Beloit to work at the First National Bank. In 1964 Bobbi accepted a position with Topeka Savings and Loan, where she worked until 1966, when a tornado virtually leveled the capital city. Bobbi's older brother Charles Minges worked at Beechcraft Corporation in Wichita and encouraged Bobbi to join him at this well-known Kansas business. It was in Wichita that Bobbi and George Link met each other.

On July 23, 1983, Bobbi and George were married at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit. The ceremony took place there, so Bobbi's father Charlie, who was a resident, could attend. Bobbi and George moved to Kansas City. George worked as a construction superintendent, and Bobbi maintained their home and cared for her mother until Esther's death in 1993. Together, the Links bought and refurbished many truly dilapidated homes and, in doing so, restored the beauty, value and integrity of several north Kansas City neighborhoods. When George retired in 1996, he and Bobbi moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and built a new house where they lived until 2006, when Bobbi "returned home" and brought George with her.

Music was an important part of Bobbi's life. Her experiences with the piano, flute and organ began in the musical family she grew up with in Beloit. In Wichita she learned to love jazz and tap dancing. In the Ozarks and Beloit Bobbi looked forward to playing the organ and piano in her church, playing piano to entertain residents at Hilltop Lodge and participating in the Beloit Allegro Music Club. She loved reading a good book, tending her garden, playing with her kitties and watching the birds that flocked to her feeders. Bobbi loved people and loved her life.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Charles, Jr.; sisters Charlene Hodges, Jane Minges and Alice Minges; and her husband George in 2016.

Bobbi is survived by her niece Sherrie Geier and husband David of Lincoln, NE; great-niece Jennifer TerMaat, husband Rodney and son Ben of Swarthmore, PA; great-nephew Christopher Geier and children Genevieve and Tristen of Lincoln, NE; nephews Tim Minges and wife Ruth; Dan Minges and wife Bev; several cousins, including Vera Streit and husband Dan of Beloit, KS; and George Link's children Glenda Jo Bailey, Rick Link and wife Beth, Lisa Goldman and husband Perry, and Bradley Link.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 PM Thursday, May 2 at the Beloit First Christian Church. Bobbi's wish is for an informal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the ACS Road to Recovery (American Cancer Society Road to Recovery) or the Church.
