Robin Lynn (Duerksen) Anderson passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Robin was born April 1, 1971 to Art and Pat Duerksen in Stevens County, MN. She attended elementary school in Glencoe, MN, middle school and high school in Windom, MN, graduating in 1989. While in high school, Robin participated in numerous extra-curricular activities, excelling in softball.
She kept a part-time job at the Home for Creative Living, caring for disabled children. In her younger years, Robin enjoyed having pets, including cats, dogs, and horses. Other hobbies included fishing, hunting, and cross stitch, and was active in 4-H.
Robin attended South Dakota State University and Minnesota West majoring in nursing.
Robin married Tony Anderson on August 30, 1997. Two children were born to this union. The marriage was later dissolved.
Robin's early career included managing restaurants in Sioux Falls, SD and Moorhead, MN. In 2005, the family moved to the Phoenix, AZ area, where she worked as a Behavioral Health Technician. In 2012, the family moved to Hoyt, KS, and in 2015 Robin and her sons moved to Topeka. During her time she worked as a Behavior Health Technician until her health prevented her to continue.
Robin loved the outdoors by enjoying camping, fishing, and gardening, and also enjoyed her spare time reading and cooking. She greatly loved her family, and they always came first.
Robin was diagnosed in her early 30s with an auto-immune disease which continued to progress, which eventually led to her passing away.
Robin is survived by her sons, Joseph and Brandon Anderson; her parents, Art and Pat Duerksen; one brother, Matt (Renee); nephew Nate; niece Riley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Keith and Velma Bush and John and Tina Duerksen, and one uncle Arnie Duerksen.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, January 15 at the Glen Elder United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-4 PM Sunday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Heart Choices.
