Roland (Ron) Henry Brummer was born on September 17, 1939 in Tipton, Kansas to Joseph and Catherine (Thomas) Brummer. He died on January 4, 2016 at the Mitchell County Hospital Resident Care Center, at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 18 days.
Ron, as he was known by his family, born in Tipton. They later moved to Beloit. Ron grew up with 4 brothers, Jerry, Clarence, Kenny, and Virgil, and 5 sisters, Joan, Elaine, Dora, Loretta, and Arlene. He attended school at St. John's High School. During this time he worked for the Beloit Motor Co., saved his money, and bought his first house when he was 17 years old. He was drafted into the Army when he was 18 and served for 2 years, he then joined the National Guard and served for 18 years. He and his brother Clarence also owned Brummer Sinclair across the street from Beloit Motors.
Shortly after his discharge from the service in 1964, Ron met Betty Melton through a blind date. Ron's younger brother was dating Betty's cousin Beth. Ron and Betty dated for about a month before tying the knot and to this union two sons were born, Michael and Mark. Ron and Betty were married nearly 20 years before this union was dissolved. Ron later met Noma Pfister while she was playing the piano at the VFW and they began to date. They were married for nearly 7 years before this union dissolved.
Ron is a member of the St. John's Catholic Church. Ron also collected antique cars and had a 53 and 57 Chevy restored. He loved to detail cars. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play various sports. Ron had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking with people.
Survivors include two sons: Mike and wife Charissa, and Mark all of Beloit, Kansas; three grandchildren: Cole, Beloit and Vanessa and husband Zachary Schwarz, San Antonio, Texas, and Zach Brummer, Beloit; sisters: Rusti Krone of McPherson, Kansas, Dorlyn and husband Lynn Kersh of Tyler Texas, Elaine and husband Harvey Donahoo of Aurora, Colorado, and Joan Laraby of Great Bend, Kansas; brothers: Gerald and wife Pauline and Clarence and wife Mary Lou all of Beloit, Kansas, Virgil and wife Sue of Concordia, Kansas; sister-in-law Beth Brummer or Great Bend, Kansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Catherine; his sister, Arlene and husband Jerry Fischer; his brother, Kenny Brummer; and brother-in-law Arnold Krone.
Funeral Mass will 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 8 at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. Burial at St. John's Cemetery. Rosary and Vigil will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the church. Visitation will be 9:00A.M.-4:00P.M. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Memorials will be given to the St. John's Ladies Guild or the Solomon Valley Hospice.
