Zella Rosemary Koster, 77, Cawker City died Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 9 days.
Mrs. Koster was born Zella R. Wooton on May 11, 1929 in Burdett, Colorado, the daughter of Vernon and Reta Finley Wooton.
She moved to Cawker City in 1943 and graduated from Cawker City High School with the Class of 1947. She worked for Coad Saddlery, Richardson Mfg, and for 40 years as a clerk at the local grocery store.
On August 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lawrence H. Koster at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City. To this union four sons were born: Earl, Arthur, Lawrence J., and Brian. They were privileged to spend more than 52 years of marriage together until Lawrence's death in October of 2001.
She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild, and was involved in many community activities.
In addition to her husband, Lawrence, she was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Alvin, Richard, and Eldon Wooton.
Survivors include four sons, Earl and wife Sally of Longmont, Colorado., Arthur and wife Patricia of Winona, Kansas., Lawrence and wife Jane of Great Bend, and Brian and wife Sherry of Jewell; two brothers, Harold of Topeka, and Dale of Cawker City; a sister Lora Lee Yacko of Cawker City; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 AM Saturday, January 27, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Cawker City. A Vigil Service will be at 7:00 PM Friday at the Church. Memorials may be given to the church or Solomon Valley Hospice.
