Roxie Ann (Schramek) Hake departed her life of 70 years at her home in St. George, Kan., early Friday morning on Oct. 3, 2025, after a several-years battle with colon cancer.
Roxie was born on June 20, 1955, to Willard and Doris Schramek in Beloit, Kan. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1973, and that summer she met and fell in love with Jerry Hake at a dance at the Captain's Quarters in Beloit. They were married on June 14, 1975, and celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. To this union were born three children: Jeff, Joel and Jessica.
She spent most of her life in her hometown of Beloit, later moving to St. George, Kan., where she and Jerry could be closer to family. In her early career, Roxie worked several years at the Mitchell County Hospital in different roles, as a certified nursing assistant, in respiratory therapy, and as a pharmacy technician. She then entered the educational work force as a paraprofessional at the Beloit Juvenile Correctional Facility, where she worked for more than 20 years. She later transitioned to the North Central Kansas Technical College, where she worked in the student resource center until her retirement in 2019.
Roxie enjoyed gardening, home design including interior decorating and painting, music, and making trips to the casino with her mother and daughter. Roxie always felt her true calling was to be a mother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to them. She also loved spending time with her extended family and close family friends, hosting large gatherings filled with love, laughter, and many memories.
Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Doris Schramek, her sister Ronda (Schramek) Saylor, and her brother, Jerry Joe Schramek.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hake of St. George, Kan., and their children: Jeff Hake and wife Tara and their children, Hadley and Parker, of Wamego, Kan.; Joel Hake and wife Jennifer of Overland Park, Kan.; and Jessica (Hake) Duesing and husband John and their daughter, Elsie, of Manhattan, Kan., and many other family and friends.
