Ruth E. Phillips

June 12, 1919 — April 8, 2009

Ruth Elverna Phillips, the daughter of John and Grace Woodard McKelvey, was born June 12, 1916, at Morganville, Kansas. She died April 8, 2009, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 92 years; 9 months and 26 days.
Ruth attended school at Topeka and Miltonvale and during World War II, she worked for the National Cash Register Company in Dayton, Ohio. She moved to Beloit with her sister, Rosemary in 1948, and took training to be a laboratory technician and x-ray technician. She later worked in the medical records department of the Mitchell County Hospital for many years.
On October 3, 1954, Ruth was united in marriage with Glenn L. Phillips at Beloit, Kansas, and the couple lived on the family farm north of Glen Elder. They had been privileged to spend nearly thirty years of married life together at the time of Glenn's death in 1984.
Ruth was a member of the Beloit Presbyterian Church. She greatly enjoyed her life on the farm where she watched the deer and turkeys and other wildlife and loved to see the sunflower crop.
She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Doxon of Jewell. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; infant siblings, Geraldine and Newton McKelvey; brother, Edward McKelvey; and sisters, Bell Gruver and Juanita Bohning.

Memorials may be given to the Beloit Presbyterian Church.
