Ruth E. Schroeder

Ruth Elnora Schroeder, the daughter of Henry and Elsie Hobbie Ritz, was born September 26, 1913, on a farm south of Cawker City, Kansas. She died August 17, 2007, at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 23 days.
Ruth grew up on the farm and attended Sunflower Country School and graduated from Cawker City High School.
On May 27, 1936, Ruth was united in marriage with Walter F. Schroeder and they had two sons and one daughter. They lived on the family homestead until 1973, when they moved to their home in Beloit. The couple had been privileged to spend nearly 66 years of married life together at the time of Walter's death in 2002.
Ruth was a home maker and greatly enjoyed sewing crocheting and needlework. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the EHU.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Schroeder of Sealy, Texas, and Randy Schroeder of Salina; a daughter, Tanya Jeardoe and her husband, Virgil of Cawker City; a sister, Mable Asher of Salina; special family members, Bill and Juliene Wallace of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Kim Ellenz, Karm Princ, Taasha Viets, Tara Watkins, Kip Jeardoe, Kay Jeardoe and Tanya Schroeder; and six great grandchildren, Hailey and Devin Princ, Emma and Ethan Viets, and Noah and Landon Watkins.
In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leonard, Vernon and Marvin Ritz; two sisters, Margaret Boehlke and Velma Bryant; and a grandson, Terry W. Schroeder.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 21, at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. A vigil service will be at 6:30 PM Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to St. John's Trust Fund or Tipton Catholic Schools. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home, 910 No. Campbell, Beloit, KS 67420.
