Stanley Wayne Hewitt, the only child of Harold and Gladys Nay Hewitt was born February 22, 1933 on a farm south of Beloit, Kansas. He departed this life of 80 years late Friday evening, November 1, 2013 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
Wayne, as everyone knew him, spent his entire life living in the Beloit area. He graduated from Beloit High School.
On October 3, 1954, he married Leah Deiter at Hays, Kansas and to this union five children Robin Jayne, Natalie Ann, James William, Steven Mark, and Linda Lou were born.
While he was raised on a farm and always kept an interest in farming, Wayne did a number of things during his life. His occupational adventures included working at NuWay Mfg & Service at Barnard, Sunflower, the Hi-Lo Service Station in Beloit, and for the longest time, he was operations manager at the Beloit Light and Water Plant.
Besides his work, Wayne was the CEO of his workshop known as "Wayne's World" where every work session was truly a most excellent adventure. There, he worked for hours on woodworking projects and always enjoyed his buddies dropping by. After his retirement, he spent even more time in the shop but always enjoyed taking breaks to mow the yard on his John Deere mower. Even Wayne himself needed a break from his duties at Wayne's World and so he and Leah enjoyed traveling to every state in the continental United States and also to every province in Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Steven Hewitt.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife Leah of the home, his children Robin (Jim) Vetter of Nixa, MO, Natalie (Nick) Morton of Wichita, James (Lynette) Hewitt, Lenexa, KS, Linda (Terry) Stinnett, Stillwater, OK; grandchildren Briana (Drew) Ford, Chelsea (Grady) Wisdom, Teah, Alex & Shayne Renken, Allie and Sophia Hewitt; great grandchildren Gavin Vetter, Tavian and Breckin Ford; his mother-in-law Doris Deiter of Beloit, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at First Christian Church with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM until 8 PM Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
