Sharon Kay Lake was born March 11, 1947 to Albert and Darda Raley McMichael at Garden City, Kansas. She departed this life of 68 years peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at her home in Cawker City, Kansas.

Sharon was raised by her grandparents Frank and Mary Raley near Holcomb, Kansas. As a child she enjoyed dancing, doing tap and ballet and then as a teenager taught dance. She graduated from Garden City High School.

On July 2, 1964, she married Michael T. Lake and enjoyed nearly 51 years of marriage together. Two sons Michael D. and Rick were born to this happy union.

Sharon and Mike were true partners in every sense of the word. They started Lake Construction in 1971 in Marysville, KS and then moved to Scott City and then on to Healy before settling in Cawker City in 1992. They own Lakeside Lodge and Lake Construction Company. Sharon had a keen business mind and was the mastermind behind their endeavors. She was an excellent bookkeeper and knew how to keep projects on schedule.

Besides working with Mike, she loved camping and fishing adventures and always looked forward to visiting the casinos. Sharon had a deep love for animals of all kinds, especially dogs. Her family was extremely important and she enjoyed visiting relatives in Colorado. She was the backbone of her family genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Survivors are her husband Mike Lake of the home; sons Michael D. Lake and wife Shari of Ellsworth, KS, Rick Lake of Beloit; one sister Michelle York of Pittsburg, KS; six grandchildren Melissa Lake, Salina, Allison Lake, Heron Lake, Minnesota, Jessica and Ashlee Lake of Ellsworth, Nicholas Lake and Jasmine Lake both of Beloit; one great grandchild McKenna Zelenka and a host of many relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Cawker City United Methodist Church. Burial of her ashes will be at a later date by her family. Memorials may be given to the church. Cremation has been chosen and there will be no visitation.
