Sharon Kay Stroede was born July 19, 1941 in Munden, Kansas to Rudy and Evelyn Homolka. Sharon graduated from high school in Chester Nebraska in 1959. While in high school she was a cheerleader, homecoming queen and a volleyball star.
Sharon was united in marriage to Don Stroede on September 17, 1967. Don moved to Concordia in 1966 after serving in the United States Navy. Don and Sharon met in Concordia while both were working for Boogaarts Supermarket. To this marriage were born four children, Shelly, Darren, Randy and Chad.
Sharon's favorite hobby was spending as much time as possible with her family. Family get togethers were her favorite past time. She and Don spent many hours caring for their grandchildren. There was seldom a time when Sharon was not in a happy mood. She lived life to the fullest. It did not take much to make her laugh and have a good time. If anyone of her family was in need of curtains or clothes being made or mended Sharon is who they turned to. If she was able to do it, it was done to perfection.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Evelyn, In-Laws Loren and Berenice Stroede and grandchildren Amber and Dillon Stroede. Left to miss her in their lives are husband Don, and children, Shelly and Mike Wilkison, Darren and Kelsey Stroede, Randy and Tonya Stroede and Chad Stroede and Maggie Ward. Grandchildren Kirk (Gina) Calhoon, Kaid Calhoon (Brianna Sicard), Reese Wilkison, Austin, Remington and Colbi Stroede and great grandson Rex Calhoon.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 9 at McDonald Funeral Home from 6-8 PM with family present. Per her request, cremation was chosen. Requested memorials are Solomon Valley Hospice or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Solomon Valley Hospice ladies were very special people in the last two weeks of her life. Amber and Dillon Stroede battled Cystic Fibrosis before they lost their fight and went to wait for their grandma in heaven.
