Sherry L. Neifert

Sherry Lee Neifert was born on March 10, 1941 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Harold Peter and Lola Fern Barnett Winkel. She died on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colorado at the age of 78.

She grew up and attended schools in Glen Elder, where she was involved in many activities, excelling in softball and basketball, and later graduated from Glen Elder High School.

On June 7, 1959, she was united in marriage with Dennis A. Neifert at the Glen Elder Christian Church. Two children, Lori Lee and Dean Austin were born to this union. As a family, they lived in various places, including Pensacola, Florida, Salina, Wichita, and Denver.

Sherry loved music, and was a very talented piano and organ player, as well as vocalist. She also served as a professional seamstress for over 20 years.

She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was never too busy to be a mom, and was a great caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis in 2016; her parents; and her brother, Douglas Joe Winkel.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Lori Lee Baughman of Andover; son, Dean Austin Neifert of Highland Ranch, Colorado; five grandchildren, Kayli and husband Adam, Jordan, Aaron, Jared, and Morgan; one great grandchild, Mason; brother, Dan Winkel and wife Linda of Glen Elder; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, August 30 at the Glen Elder Christian Church followed by burial in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday, August 29 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Post Rock Humane Society or ASPCA.
