Shirley Frances (Gray) Hayden, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026. She was born on March 31st, 1936 to Ovid and Mable (Lawson) Gray in Beloit, KS.
Shirley married Raymond Hayden on January 28th, 1954 and together they raised 13 children. Throughout their marriage, they lived in Glen Elder, Cawker City, and Beloit.
Shirley worked for a short time at Mitchell County Hospital in the kitchen/laundry, and eventually became a full time housekeeper for many prominent families in Beloit. She retired at age 77 to care for her husband.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Ovid and Mable Gray, husband, Raymond Hayden, daughter, Linda Hohner, daughter-in-law, Helen Hayden, great granddaughter, Katie Hayden, her sisters and their spouses: Doris (Paul) Cataldi, Ruth (David) Pritchett, Mildred (Marvin) Rush, Nancy (Wayne) Foulke, her brother, Gerald Gray, her brother-in-laws: Robert Hayden, Jimmy McIntire, Norman Dameron, and Virgil (Tuffy) Rush.
She is survived by 3 sisters: Virginia McIntire, Corona, CA, Janice Dameron and Mary Gray, Beloit, KS; daughters: Cindy (Danny) Motes, Beloit, Pat (Rick) Stanton, Monett, MO, Barbara Hayden, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Karen Havel, Phoenix, AZ, Dawna West, Concordia, Sandy (Ted) Gerber, Salina, Ginger Rose (Eric Cole, fiance), Beloit; sons: David Hayden, Kansas City, Tim Hayden, Beloit, Larry (Vicki) Hayden, Beloit, Tracy Hayden, Clay Center, and Troy Hayden (Sarah Smith-Barton), Lawrence; 35 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Memorial services will be at 10 AM Saturday, July 11 at the Beloit Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 PM Friday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice, Boost Ministries, or the Beloit Methodist Church.
