Shirley A. Smith of Mankato, KS passed away Thursday June 27, 2019 at the RCC in Beloit.
Shirley was born on October 28, 1937 in Mankato to Clifford and Clara Hancock. She graduated from Mankato High in 1956. Shirley fell in love with and married the love of her life, Donald J. Smith on August 2, 1958 in Esbon, KS at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. To this union they were blessed with three children, Jeff, Jennifer and Janet.
Shirley's greatest joys were her family, faith and friends. She was an amazing cook, an avid KU fan and was a huge cheerleader for her kids and grandkids in all their sports and activities. Shirley was a member of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church and The Ladies Guild until they relocated to Mankato.
Shirley is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister, Betty Murray, brother, Rick Hancock and granddaughter, Whitney Chriestenson.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Don Smith of the home, son, Jeff Smith (Mankato), daughters, Jennifer Chriestenson (Steve,Mankato), Janet Cochran (Ray, Cawker City), 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many close family and friends. Funeral services will be held on July 2 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday, July 1 at the church followed by a rosary at 7 PM Memorials may be given to the Morrison House in Salina or Solomon Valley Hospice.
