Stanley "Kip" Walter was born on February 2, 1944 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Leo E. and Margaret A. Remus Walter. He died on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014 in Harvard, Nebraska at the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 25 days.
Kip, as he was known, grew up in Cawker City, attending St. Theresa's before graduating from Cawker City High School in 1962. He went on to attend one year at Kansas State University, and then spent seven years in the National Guard.
In 1964, he moved to Roseland, NE to take over the family farm. He stayed on the family farm until 1980 when his health no longer enabled him to farm. He then moved around from Campbell, Blue Hill, and later Harvard, where he had spent the last two years.
Kip enjoyed life to the fullest – he enjoyed working on cars and pickups, and overhauling engines. He also loved spending his free time attending Nebraska Cornhusker football games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Doug.
Kip is survived by his brother, Tim and his wife Patience of Topeka, a sister-in-law, Jeanie Walter of Cawker City, 11 nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
A memorial mass will be at 10 AM Saturday, December 6 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City. A parish vigil service will be held at 7 PM Friday at the Church. Memorials may be given to the Church or Mary Lanning Hospice. Cremation was chosen & there will be no visitation.
