Susan Irene Nelson was born July 16, 1951 to Marcus Eugene and Mary Antonette Fueser Crannell at Beloit, Kansas. Surrounded by her loving family, she went to be with the Lord, ending an earthly life of 63 years, 11 months, and 26 days Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Susi, as many people knew her, spent much of her entire life living in the Beloit area.

On April 27, 1968, Susan married Steve Nelson in Beloit. Two children Jennie and Ryan were born to this happy union of 47 years.

A kind hearted, people loving person, Susan made countless friends throughout her life. She worked several places including the Dairy Queen and Pump Mart. She was quick to find the good in people and always gave them the benefit of the doubt. She loved animals, especially her companion Cujo, a Chihuahua who was always by her side. Susan greatly enjoyed reading a good book and going to the movies. In addition, she loved her family and enjoyed camping and boating adventures with them.

Her parents, and one sister Cecilia Spicher preceded her in death.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband Steve Nelson of the home, daughter Jennie Liebel and husband Allan of Newton, Ryan Nelson of Beloit; sisters Rita Saltkill of Salina, Helen Godeloson of Eatonville, WA; Daniel Crannell of New York, Mark Crannell and wife Orlena of Eatonville, WA. Eugene Crannell of Beloit; three grandchildren Gabriel, Reily, and Luke Libel, and a host of many relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or National Right to Life. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the McDonald Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.
