Terri Elizabeth Neubert was born April 16, 1960 to James Andrew and Dora Lee Morrell Wilson in Wichita, Kansas. Her vibrant life of 55 years ended Friday, April 8, 2016 at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita following a very brief illness.
Terri and her family moved to Beloit when she was very young. She attended Beloit Elementary School and graduated from Beloit Jr-Sr High School in the Class of 1978.
Intent on making the world a better place with music, Terri enrolled at Wichita State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music performance and business. She entered the program focusing on piano but was inspired to aggressively pursue her violin, making her a professional violinist and played with the Wichita Symphony. She received her teaching credentials from The University of Texas at Austin.
While at Wichita State, Terri met and fell in love with Bernard David Neubert, a fellow string musician and educator. They were married on May 9, 1981 in Wichita and two sons Joshua Michael and Bernard Jacob were born to this wonderful union. They later moved to Austin, Texas where Terri taught and played in the Austin Symphony and Austin Lyric Opera Orchestras. More recently, they purchased Summerland Farm on the south edge of Beloit and were in the process of opening a music school in downtown Beloit in the building once owned by her grandparents.
Terri lived every moment of her short life to the very fullest. Always smiling, she brightened everyone's day with her joyful presence. She loved shopping, interior design, working in her garden, cooking with natural ingredients, and of course playing her violin accompanied by David on the guitar.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and attended New Life Assembly of God. In addition, she was Past President of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and a member of the American String Teachers Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference and the American Federation of Musicians, Texas Music Adjudicators Association. She was a faithful member of the Beloit Community Orchestra and delighted in helping young players.
Terri will be deeply missed by her husband Dr. Bernard David Neubert of the home; two sons Joshua Neubert of Austin, TX, B.J. Neubert of Beloit; her parents Dora Lee and Richard Williams of Beloit; one brother Jim Wilson of Beloit; three sisters Kathy Thompson and husband Mike of Beloit, Nancy Wilson of Austin, TX, Ann Popp and husband Mike of Wichita; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and grateful students.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to CASA or the Beloit Community Orchestra. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
