Thomas Earl Colby was born on March 8, 1968 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Claude W. and Hazel A. Lindhorst Colby. He died suddenly on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit at the age of 52.
Tom was born and raised in Beloit, where he graduated from Beloit High School. He lived in Texas for a period of time before moving back to the area, where he spent most of his life.
He worked for MiTre Construction for many years as a sub-contractor, and had been working for Agco as a welder.
In his spare time, he had a great passion for duck and goose hunting. He served as a hunting guide for many years, and loved working with the youth on hunts and with gun safety. He also raised Labs, and was very active in Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. Another great passion was to be involved with the Wounded Warriors In Action.
Tom was known to have a big heart, and was generous to all who met him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Frank Burchett.
Tom is survived by Tiffany Krier and her children, Gage Robinson, Alexis Krier, and Natalie Krier, all of Beloit; his daughter Tanda and husband Daniel Alexander of Junction City; his son, Cody of Abilene; his brother, Bruce and wife Robin Burchett of Milford; two sisters, Theresa Higle of Salina, and Marietta and husband Chris Hawkinson of Tomah, Wisconsin; one grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family-only memorial services will be at 1 PM Saturday, February 13 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, February 12 from 9 AM to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Wounded Warriors In Action.
