Thomas W. Jones, lifelong resident of Beloit, Kansas, died peacefully in the presence of his wife on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Tom as he was known to friends and family was born to F.C. (Doc) Jones and Ruby Motes Jones in Beloit, Kansas on July 27, 1922. He was a cradle roll and lifetime member of First Christian Church. He attended Rogers Grade School and graduated from Beloit High School in 1940.
Tom began his 45 year career with the Gas Service Company after graduation from High School, pausing only long enough to serve his country as a United States Marine Corps Paratrooper during WWII.
In 1945 he met Lorna May Cox of Scottsville, Ks. at the Welcome-Home Legion Supper in Beloit. They were united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1946 at the First Christian Church and spent the next 67 years together. To this union were born four children, Chris and wife Kim of Beloit, Marcia Stewart and husband Chuck of New Braunfels, Tx., Curt and Diane of Hastings, Neb., and Craig and Kay of Cawker City. They boast nine grandchildren; Sumi Sneath, Alicia Miller, Carla Jones, Erin Jones, Jessica Quinn, Haley Jones, Tracy Marsh, Whitney Haygood, and Keely Surprenant, and 4 step grandchildren. They now have 19 great grandchildren and counting!
Preceding him in death were his parents, his four siblings; Pete, Jim, John, and Janet, and his granddaughter Haley. He is survived by his wife and children.
Tom took many hours of pleasure from his retirement hobby/career of antique restoration and sale and is best known for his General Store Antiques shop. He was an active member of his church and community and was beloved by family and friends. He will be missed.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Saturday, May 10 at the Beloit First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Church, Mitchell County Museum, or the Post Rock Humane Society.
