Twila Virleen Remus Kruse was born on September 16, 1931, at the old Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas, to Henry and Lola (Milburn) Remus of Hunter. When Twila was eight years old, her family moved to Beloit where she attended District No. 3 country school through the eighth grade. When she was thirteen, the family purchased the Brown Homestead, a place that became filled with many treasured memories. Twila graduated from Beloit High School with the Class of 1949.

After graduation, Twila worked for a short time at Grief Jewelry Store before accepting a position in the Beloit City Clerk's Office. In 1950, while attending a dance at Bohemian Hall, she met the love of her life, Jack Kruse. They became engaged by Christmas and were married on Jack's birthday, May 1, 1951, beginning a marriage built on love, commitment, and family.

Together, Twila and Jack were blessed with five children—Michael, Patrick, Kelli, Kathi, and Jerry. She devoted herself to raising her family while creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love, support, and countless memories.

On May 1, 1969, Twila began her career as a Unit Secretary at Mitchell County Hospital. She faithfully served patients, families, and coworkers for 35 years before retiring in April 2004 at the age of 72. Her compassion, dependability, and fiery spirit left a lasting impression on everyone privileged to know her.

Above everything else, Twila treasured her family. She delighted in watching her family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and cherishing every opportunity to be together. She also held close the many lifelong friendships she developed over the years and valued the wonderful neighbors who became like family.

Twila leaves behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, quiet strength, unwavering faithfulness, and unconditional love. Her life reminds us that the greatest measure of a person is found in the love they share, the family they nurture, and the lives they quietly touch. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her brother, Kim Remus and his wife, Mary; her children, Mike and Karla Kruse, Pat Kruse, Kelli and Scott Bower, Kathi and Rick Vetter, and Jerry Kruse and Amber Wright; her grandchildren: Jake Kruse; Andy and Lauren Kruse; Sara Jensen; Ben and Shantel Kruse; Kayla and B.J. Ross; Cole and Nicole Kruse; Kalli Kruse; Travis and Annie Bower; Jeremy Bower; Janae and Cassidy Nelson; Laura Bower; Jason Vetter and Angel Thomas; Ty and Shawna Vetter; and Madisyn Vetter and Will Meyer; 30 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
