Vada Hope Cordill

Vada Hope Selichnow-Cordill, the youngest daughter of Emil and Sue Lytle Selichnow was born March 13, 1925 on a farm in Osborne County near Downs, Kansas. She departed this life of 82 years, 10 months, and 13 days late Saturday evening, January 26, 2008 at the Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems in Beloit.
Vada grew up on a farm in the Rose Valley neighborhood northwest of Downs, Kansas and attended elementary school in the Rose Valley School. She graduated from Osborne High School, Osborne, Kansas in the Class of 1942 where she made her home with her sister Helen and husband Dr. R.N. Garner.
After graduation, she began employment with the local telephone company and later transferred her employment to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Salina, Kansa until her marriage.
On February 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Richard Neil Cordill in Downs, Kansas. Her home was blessed with two daughters (Victoria) Vicki Sue and Linda Lou. Vada and her husband Richard (Dick) were privileged to have celebrated forty-nine years and six months of life together before Dick's death on July 26, 1995. She resided in and near the Beloit area all of her married life.
She was a telephone operator and Administrative Assistant for the State of Kansas, working at the Beloit Juvenile Correctional Facility for over 31 years, retiring on March 1, 1988.
Vada was known by her family and neighbors as a cheerful, happy, and trustworthy person. She was always willing to help those in need. She was truly dedicated to her profession and highly respected by those who knew her.
Vada was always proud of her granddaughters Molly Sue, Marcy Ann, and Ashley Hope. She was always happy when she could spend time with them, and was very proud of their many accomplishments. She was a good neighbor, a thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Vada always took great pride in whatever she undertook to do.
She was baptized and received into membership at an early age all of her life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Beloit at the time of her death.
Vada was preceded in death by her husband Richard, one daughter Vicki Meats. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Helen Garner. Mary Wheeler, Hilda Towne, Margaret Krueger and two brothers Roy and Donald Selichnow.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her daughter Linda Lou Ledezma and husband Rick of Round Rock, Texas, granddaughter Ashley Hope; son-in-law Robert (Bob) Meats of Beloit, Kansas and granddaughter Molly Sue Darrenkamp and husband Scott of Wichita, Kansas, great grandsons Joshua and Jayson Darrenkamp; granddaughter Marcy Ann Lampert and husband Paul of Russell, Kansas and great grandsons Kyle and Tyler Lampert. She is also survived by a host of niece, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the McDonald Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church Radio Broadcast Fund. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday the McDonald Funeral Home.
