Velora "Kay" Boden

Velora Kay Boden, 79 of Beloit, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas after a courageous battle with several strokes and illnesses.
She married Jerome Boden on June 7, 1954 and they celebrated 61 years, 6 months, and 20 days of marriage.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit, and was past president of the Ladies Guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Vurdgle and Edna Mildred Crimen; brothers: Floyd, Kenneth, and Duane; sisters: Deloise, Madonna, and Ellen; son-in-laws: Mark Robinson and Dan Baxa; and daughter-in-law: Pam Boden.
She is survived by her husband: Jerome Boden; sister, Betty Hicks of San Antonio, TX; children: Virginia Baxa of Wamego, KS, Karlene (A.J.) Baxa of Beloit, Ronnie Boden of Beloit, Donnie Boden of Beloit, Larry Boden of Redlands, CA, and Teresa (Mike) Anderson of Fredonia, KS; 26 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
Kay graduated from Lucas High School in 1954 and moved to Beloit after married in June, where she lived the rest of her life. Kay was a stay-at-home mom, and helped farm by driving trucks until 1981 and the last child was in school. Then she followed her passion for caring for the elderly. In 1986, she became an LPN. She worked at Cheyenne Lodge in Jamestown, and then in Long Term Care in Beloit until her first stroke in 1996.
Kay loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family, and they enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor, ornery smile, quick wit, and the shaking of her finger. Kay had tremendous faith and compassion, and loved to read. Kay had another passion for dancing, and taught line dancing and country dance with her son Ron. She enjoyed playing cards and doing reflexology to help friends and family, and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, December 31 at the St. John's Catholic Church followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 PM Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home. A parish rosary service will be at 7 PM Wednesday at the Church. Memorials may be given to St. John's Education Fund or the Mitchell County Hospital Resident Care Center.
