Verl D. Evert, the son of Clint and Emiline Tatro Evert, was born April 24, 1948, at Concordia, Kansas. He died July 28, 2009, at the Salina Regional Health Center at the age of 61 years.
Verl attended school at Simpson until the school closed and then graduated from Glasco High School.
Verl was a lifelong area resident and worked at several jobs during his career. He worked at Jindra's Garage in Simpson for several years and also did construction work and was a vehicle delivery driver. He enjoyed driving and working on cars and fishing was his favorite sport.
Survivors include his son, Rodney and wife, Crystal Illene of Clay Center; his daughter, Crystal Mae Morris and husband, Brian of Salina; two step-daughters and their husbands, Mary Frances and Josh Duvall and Becky and Brian Woodford of Concordia; five sisters, Lola Hanchett of Delphos, Vola Webster and husband, John of Minneapolis, Connie Venzor and husband, Chris of Beloit, Lois Lervold and husband, Jim of Concordia, and Mary Smith and Husband, Rich of Newton; and nine grandchildren.
Verl was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Lee.
Funeral Services for Verl D. Evert, age 61 of Concordia, will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit. Cremation will follow the service. Mr. Evert died Tuesday, July 28, at Salina Regional Health Center. Survivors include a son, Rodney of Clay Center; a daughter, Crystal Morris of Salina; step-daughters, Mary Frances Duvall and Becky Woodford, both of Concordia; 5 sisters, Lola Hanchett of Delphos, Vola Webster of Minneapolis, Connie Venzor of Beloit, Lois Lervold of Concordia, and Mary Smith of Newton; and 9 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given for the family.
