Virginia Lea Henderson was born January 20, 1948 to James Ira and Vera June Snyder Betts in Osborne, Kansas. She departed this life of 64 years, 8 months and 23 days early Friday, October 12, 2012 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.
Virginia spent her childhood years in Osborne and entered the workforce at an early age. She worked as a Certified Nurses Aide for several years at the Golden LivingCenter in Downs, Kansas. She later enjoyed cooking at the former Beloit Livestock Auction and the Daylight Donut Shop. She did this all while raising her children.
A friendly, spirited person, Virginia had a very commanding presence; she was short-to-the-point and you always knew where you stood with her. She loved sewing and was very artistic. She enjoyed her computer and playing Bingo. In earlier years, she enjoyed drag racing.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Vera Betts; daughters Gwen and Sammy Henderson; her sister Susan Leighton; brother Ronnie Betts; son-in-law Joseph Roubedeaux and grandson Sebastian Roubedeaux.
Virginia is survived by her children Mike Eck (Jnell), Beloit, Scott Eck (Shelly), Salina, Lisa Smith, Beloit, Larry Henderson (Nichole), Concordia; Veronica Henderson, Beloit, Alex Henderson, Concordia; sisters Cheryl Betts, Salina, Kristine Smith (Layne), Beloit; brothers Jim Betts (Kay), Esbon, John Betts, Osborne; 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 17 athe McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial in Osborne Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund.
