Wanda Arlene Grittman was born on March 8, 1960 in Osborne, Kansas, the daughter of Irvin and Doris Towels Woodcock. She died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 58.
Wanda grew up in the Downs area, where she attended school and graduated from high school.
On January 5, 1985, she was united in marriage with Dan Grittman at the Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit. They were privileged to have just celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary the day before her passing.
Wanda spent many years working for both the Downs Nursing Home, where she took great pride as the laundry/housekeeping supervisor and at the Mitchell County Hospital. That pride carried over to her home, where she kept a spotless house.
One of her greatest passions was camping with family, traveling to other states in the camper, or at the Waconda Lake. She also enjoyed reading, watching Gunsmoke, and adult coloring books in her spare time. And she greatly loved her grandkids, and spending as much time as possible with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Wanda is survived by her husband Dan; three children, Scott Hayden of Portland, Oregon, Kim Steinert and husband Curtis of Lehigh, Kansas, and Heather Jensen of Beloit; eight grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday, January 12 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home followed by burial in the Downs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice or the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation.
