Warren Russell Suter was born on June 8, 1927 in Cawker City, Kansas, the son of Jacob Russell and Mary Moxter Suter. He died late Sunday, June 18, 2006 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 79 years and 10 days.
Warren grew up and attended Country School before graduating from Cawker City High School in 1945. He went to work for the phone company, and helped with custom harvesting.
From 1949 until 1969, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He served in Japan for several years, and was an instructor at the Naval Academy. After his retirement, he returned to Cawker City, and helped Warren Inskeep farm.
On February 5, 1977, he was united in marriage to Opal Brake Miller in Beloit.
Warren enjoyed hunting and fishing, and watching wrestling.
He was a member of the Cawker City Baptist Church, the American Legion, and the VFW.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a son, William Miller and his wife Jeanne of Wasilla, Alaska; one brother, Milton Suter and his wife Rosella of Cawker City; one sister, Helen VonDemfange of Topeka; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 22, at the Cawker City Baptist Church with burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church or charity of the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the Waconda Funeral Home, 815 West First, Cawker City, KS 67430.
