Wayne Lee Mitchell was born September 10,1937 in Dawson, Missouri to Lyle L. and Berniece B. (Warner) Mitchell. He passed away January 6, 2020 at his home in Glasco, Ks.
Wayne grew up in North Central Kansas. He graduated from Salina Central High School in May of 1957. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959, with some service in Germany and Korea. In October 1963, he graduated from the National School of Meat Cutting, Inc. in Toledo, Ohio. He moved to Glasco in 1972, where this has been home since.
On July 26, 1973, he marred Phyllis (Higle) Sumpter and to this union a daughter, Christina Diane was born in 1980. He worked at Kellys Fine Foods until 1990 after that he delivered the Salina Journal for several year.
Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Christina and Chris Pollet; grandson, Joshua Lee Mitchell-Fulton; granddaughter, Paige LeeAnn Pollet all of Delphos, KS; three sister, Gwendolyn Studebaker of Wichita, Ks; Erickscene Blattman of Eldorado, KS; and Linda Garrett of Edwards, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Gene Mitchell.
Memorial services will be at 10 AM Monday, January 13 at the Glasco VFW Hall. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 PM Sunday, January 12 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund.
