William R. Nauman

William Richard Nauman of Glasco, Kansas (formerly of Manhattan, KS) was born January 10, 1940 to Clarence Benedict and Vivian N.Z. Sinclair Naumann at Delphos, Kansas. He departed this life of 70 years, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Salina Regional Health Center. William (Buck) attended Glasco High School where he graduated in 1957. After high school Buck joined the Marine Corps in February, 1958. He was honorably discharged as a rank of corporal from the Marine Corps in August 1963. He married Lenora S. Mildfelt on March 25, 1961. From this union one daughter was born, Brenda Jo Nauman in March 1963.

Buck worked as an auto body repairman for a number of years in Salina before becoming an insurance adjuster for Allstate Insurance. He then worked for Allstate for more than 25 years, traveling around west and north central Kansas working claims. Buck retired in 1995 from Allstate and moved back to his home town of Glasco in 1998. He also served on the Glasco City Council for a few years.

Buck was a K-State and KU sports fan, and loved watching the games on television. He loved camping and fishing at Wilson and Bennington State Lakes with his family and friends. After moving to Glasco in later years, he enjoyed family and friends stopping by the house for Friday night camaraderie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joyce Wilmarth and a brother Larry Naumann. Those left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are daughter Brenda of Manhattan, nephew Steve Naumann and wife Jennifer of Glasco, niece Wendy Walker of Beloit, niece Debbie Mildfelt of Salina, nephew Jack Mildfelt of Salina, niece Sheryl Barleen of Arlington, Va. In addition, Buck will be missed by a host of great nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Dean Funeral Home with Pastor Rex Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Nicol Home. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Dean Funeral Home.
