Wilma E. Davis

September 23, 1914 — July 31, 2009

Beloit

Wilma E. Davis was born to Stanley and Chloe Wright Mosburg on September 23, 1914 in a stone farm house southwest of Concordia, Kansas. She departed this life on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas, where she had resided for the past 9 years.
Wilma spent her childhood and young adulthood on a farm in the Macyville community helping with the farm work and assisting in raising her three brothers. She was the only granddaughter of both the Wright and Mosburg families.
On August 4, 1937 Wilma was united in marriage to Charles A. Davis at Concordia. They began their life together in Mankato, Minnesota and returned to Asherville in 1942. This union was blessed with two daughters, Leta and Lois.
Wilma was a homemaker and mother until her children were teenagers. Farmer's State Bank in Asherville was her first employer until they merged with the Simpson Bank. She worked for Bean's and then Betty's, a job she excelled in as children held a special place in her heart. At the age of 75, she retired to care for Charles until his death in 1991. Wilma was a kind and strong person who was a faithful and devoted wife and mother. She was never too busy to help her friends and neighbors and was known throughout the community for her delicious cookies that were all the same perfect size. She enjoyed her children, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
She was always ready and waiting for a trip to Kansas City to see her great grandchildren. Wilma and Charles celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 4, 1987.
Wilma was a member of the Simpson Church, TPM Club, Athena Club, and EHU.
Survivors include two daughters, Leta Meyers of Greeley, Colorado, and Lois Davis and husband Kin of Canton, Georgia; three grandchildren, Mark Meyers of Gaithersberg, Maryland, Mary Irish and husband Lee of South Hamilton, Massachusetts, David Meyers and wife Debbie of Overland Park, Kansas; three great grandchildren, Brandon and Stephanie Meyers of Overland Park, and Eleanor Irish of South Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Charles, and three brothers, Herman, Earl, and Norman Mosburg.
Her strong will, kindness, beautiful smile, and love of children will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 4 at the McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial in Morrison Cemetery near Jamestown. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
