Wynona Sue Sauvain was born on December 15, 1930 to Samuel and Mildred Meade Miles in Delphos, Kansas. Sue's mother passed away when she was only 4 years old and she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Fornie & Eva Davis. She was raised as their own, along with their daughters Marcelyn and Donna on a farm north east of Delphos. After grade school, Sue spent time with her father in Oregon. She came back to Kansas and attended Salina Beauty Academy where she graduated in 1952.
On July 5, 1952, Sue married Dale Giesecke. They made their home on the Giesecke farmstead near Delphos until 1953 when they moved to Glasco. Sue operated Sue's Style Shop in Glasco from 1954 until she retired in 1993. Dale passed away in August of 1984.
In August of 1993, she married Melvin Van Campen in Eagle, Colorado. Sue and Melvin lived on a farm near Clifton, Kansas until Melvin's death in 1994. Sue moved back to Glasco in 1996. Sue married Albert Sauvain in November of 1999 at the Glasco Christian Church. They made their home in Glasco until Albert died in February of 2007.
She was a member of the Glasco Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in the church women's group. She also belonged to the Manhattan Daylily Society and the Glasco VFW Auxiliary.
Sue is survived by two sons, Doug Giesecke and wife Jackie of Olathe, KS and Brad Giesecke and wife Nancy of Glasco; a daughter Lisa Pauls and husband Rick of Glasco, and a foster daughter Janice Sahlfeld and husband Robert of Beloit, and step-daughter Marilyn Larson of Vacaville, CA. There are seven grandchildren Kim Sahlfeld-Bunger and husband Rob of White Water, MO, Rachel Moore and husband Stewart of Clay Center, Sarah Giesecke-Green and husband Jon of Kansas City, MO, Elizabeth Wallace and husband Matt of Newalla, OK, Brian Pauls of Glasco, Nathan Giesecke and Benjamin Giesecke of Olathe, KS. There are also 6 great grandchildren Cory, Cody and Colby Bunger, Blaize and Jaxon Moore, and Molly Wallace.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Glasco Christian Church with Pastor Dennis McAlister officiating. Cremation will follow the service and private burial of the ashes will be in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Glasco Christian Church or Solomon Valley Hospice. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Dean Funeral Home, Glasco. The casket will not be open at the service.
