Zada Elizabeth Shane

On March 25, 1924 in Smith Center, Kansas, Zada Elizabeth Shane was born to James Franklin Shane and Grace Elizabeth Smith Shane. Her earthly life ended March 30, 2009.
Zada graduated from Glen Elder, Kansas High School in 1942. After teaching in rural schools near Glen Elder for 3 years, she enrolled at the University of Nebraska School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska under the Cadet Corps Program, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1948. She worked at the University of Nebraska Hospital for her entire career. She received several honors during that career. Among them were: Employee of the month-Caring Kind Employee-Admiralty in the Nebraska Navy.
She was baptized at the Glen Elder Christian Church in 1930. In 1958, she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Omaha.
She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0413 in Glen Elder, and a life member of the University of Nebraska Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother and wife Robert Raymond and Dorothy Irene Shane.
Survivors include her nephew Steven and his wife Laurie Shane of Colorado Springs, and several cousins.

Memorials may be given to the University of Nebraska College of Nursing and the Nebraska Humane Society. Cards may be sent to Mr. & Mrs. Steven Shane, 4834 Diablo Valley Ct., Colorado Springs, CO 80918.

A graveside memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 20 in Glenwood Cemetery in Glen Elder, KS. There will be no vistation.
